This painting was inspired by a truly transformative experience. It was as if I had magically been set down in the private paradise of the egrets of Cape May, New Jersey. This was at the Cape May Nature Conservatory. By some miracle, no one else was on the trail. I was alone with these magnificent creatures. I could observe them as much as I wanted. And I noticed they were looking me over too, perhaps mistaking my binoculars for real eyes. One Great White Egret in particular was posing for his movie star closeup, and he was movie star handsome!
