I love my garden! There is nothing more blissful for me than to sit outside gazing at the bright colors of the flowers, looking up at the sky with its billowy clouds, and smiling at the occasional bird who graces the birdbath. I decided to set myself up outside and paint the garden en plein air. I tried to capture the magic I feel every time I look at what seeds and bulbs and loving care can produce. Coming from California, I grew up with my mother's beautiful perpetual garden. The flowers never die, because there's no Winter. But here in New Jersey, they do, which makes it all the more wondrous to enjoy while one can, before Winter takes it away for another six months. I also wanted to pay homage to the great artist, Monet, whose passion for his gardens has given so much to the world of art.
