This painting is auto-biographical and based on my childhood backyard in Los Angeles. How l loved to go up in the swing, smelling the fragrance of my mother's garden, my father's prickly hedge on one side and the incinerator, cloaked in morning glories, on the other. That incinerator was always in the corner of my eye, for my childhood knew of the dark side, as well as the bright.
