This painting was inspired by the Presby Iris Gardens in Montclair, New Jersey. It's a magical place with irises every color under the sun. They are such delicate flowers, they look as if they are made of tissue paper. This woman is enjoying the rainbow beauty of the flowers. "Iris" means rainbow. She is walking in her garden in complete Spring bliss. I just painted this now in the Winter, while we await a blizzard. There is a reason the great impressionists turned to the garden for inspiration.
